Sumatra Lintong Tano Batak

Sumatra Lintong Tano Batak

Profile

Tano Batak, which translates to “Land of Batak” hails from the ethnic Batak region of northern Sumatra, this Lintong-area coffee has notes of aromatic wood, grapefruit and fresh tobacco leaf that makes it distinct from common earth-toned Sumatra coffees.

The town of Lintong Nihota has become synonymous with coffee produced in the area around the southern part of Lake Toba. This coffee was grown by indigenous Batak people, a group that has been involved in coffee production since the plant was brought to the region in the late 1600‘s. Processed by the wet-hulled method, an unorthodox method of fruit removal and drying that results in the unique flavors Sumatra coffees are know for.

Cupping Notes

An intensely fragrant cedar-toned coffee with notes of tobacco leaf, grapefruit and coriander.
