Outpost Event in Bodega Bay

At Equator, we love supporting events all over the Bay Area.  But we've never supported an event quite like The Outpost.  What is Outpost? Great question, its a concept put together by cause marketing agency Uneri, as an alternative to standard industry trade shows.

The Outpost brought together like-minded brands for a three-day retreat in Bodega Bay.   Participating brands wove their products into the experience through activities.  The idea being to give attendees a fresh opportunity to connect with and build lasting relationships while actually using products in their intended setting- the outdoors.  Be sure to check out the video recap below!

In the olden days as manifest destiny was beginning to take shape, outposts were set up across the nation where travelers and settlers could stop in and acquire goods to sustain their journey. These trading posts were not just the beating heart of commerce; they were the catalyst for community.

Coffee, while not only being a kickstart to most people's day, can also be a great facilitator of genuine and authentic connections.  We love seeing our regulars each and every day at our Equator Cafes throughout Marin and San Francisco, and we got to experience this first hand at Outpost.  The weekend was full of genuine connections and great experiences.

Each morning we featured our single-origin El Salvador Los Pineros Bourbon, a wonderfully sweet coffee with flavors of apple, dried cherry, and honey.  A great part of Equator Events is we get the opportunity to share the story behind the coffee we serve.  Every coffee has a unique story, and we have had a long partnership with farm owner Gilberto Barona.  For the last couple of years, we have combined two different lots in order to accentuate flavor.  Named in honor of the Pyrenees, the mountain range that serves as a natural border between Spain and France, Finca Los Pirineos is the mountain divide located in central El Salvador.  By some accounts, cultivation on the coffee farm dates all the way back to 1890, and has been owned and operated by producer Gilberto Barona's family for well over a century.  Getting to share this coffee with Outpost attendees all weekend was great, and while this was the first Outpost, we know it won't be the last!

Attendees did not have any obligations to attend activities, everyone was encouraged to explore and try activities that interested them.  While Equator covered the morning coffee, we also immersed ourselves in the weekend and enjoyed workshops on surfing and kayaking, followed by cooling off with Equator cold brew.

We especially enjoyed the outdoor skills workshop put on by the team at Elemental Awareness, an awesome non-profit with a mission to connect kids to nature. Our Equator Prius event snuck its way into a front row seat on a talk about the van lifestyle led by Go Westy (must be that quiet eco-friendly electric side of the engine).
