We are ecstatic to announce that Equator Coffees will be opening at historic Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in June 2017. We will be hosting a ground-breaking event Saturday, April 1st to give our customers a sneak-peak at our sixth Equator Cafe. We invite you to join us for a behind-the-scenes look at what will be an iconic collaboration. Chat with our visionary architects at Boor Bridges Architecture (BBA) and enjoy free Equator Coffee, Sufferfest Beer, Mimosas and of course Johnny Donuts from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
This cafe will be located on Fort Mason’s Center for Arts & Culture (FMCAC) waterfront arts campus. The FMCAC Gatehouse, at the entry to the repurposed former military facility, will be converted into a lively café with a portion of the adjacent parking lot transformed into a pedestrian plaza.
“While a café and the arts are a natural pairing, it’s rare to find a retail company whose values are so symbiotic with a non-profit arts organization,” said Rich Hillis, Executive Director of Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture. “From employing indigenous farmers to their downtown café featuring immersive art installations, Equator has a long history of creating and enhancing vibrant communities.”
The newest Equator café is being designed by Boor Bridges Architects (BBA) and will serve as an integral component of a redesigned entrance to the 13-acre historic arts campus. Equator and BBA have designed a clean, modern space that reflects the industrial character of the campus. As part of the renewed entry, Equator and FMCAC will partner in creating a more pedestrian and bicycle-friendly gateway to its campus.
“Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture presents an unparalleled opportunity,” said Helen Russell Co-Founder and CEO of Equator Coffees & Teas. “By locating on campus and next to the Bay Trail, we hope to create a hub for the cyclists, runners and pedestrians enjoying the City’s waterfront, as well as serving the arts and cultural patrons. What better view than the Golden Gate Bridge to enjoy a cup of Equator Coffee.”
We look forward to seeing you for our kick-off event April 1st, and serving you great Equator Coffees at Fort Mason this summer.
