Costa Rica Altos del Abejonal Natural
This is the first time we’ve offered coffee from Altos del Abejonal, a farm and micro-mill located in Costa Rica’s beautiful Tarrazú growing region. We evaluated this lot while visiting our friends at Exclusive Coffees in San José, Costa Rica earlier this year. Exclusive’s founder, Francisco Mena, works with over one hundred micro-mills scattered throughout Costa Rica’s major growing regions, offering training to producers and a platform for their coffees to be shared with coffee roasters throughout the world.
This Caturra variety lot was processed using the natural (or dry) method, where the coffee fruit is allowed to dry whole, resulting in smooth, intensely fruity flavors. Altos del Abejonal owner, Mauricio Vindas, single-handedly processes all of the farm’s coffee and has perfected the often-finicky natural processing method. This coffee’s meticulous processing has resulted in a sweet, complex and fruit-forward flavor profile that will keep you warm throughout the cold winter months.
