Snow Leopard Blend
Snow Leopard is a seasonal blend that gives us the opportunity to take single-origin coffees we enjoy on their own and combine them in unique ways to create something delicious! This iteration is built around a beautifully floral coffee produced by small-holder farmers in the town of Gedeb, within Ethiopia’s esteemed Yirgacheffe growing region. The coffee is processed at the Chelchele mill which is operated by METAD, a respected agricultural development project. The group is focused on sustainable operations and social impact, and they also have their own well-known farm, Hambela Estate. The group was originally founded by Muluemebet Emiru, who received the farm as part of a government land grant after World War II for her service as Africa’s first female pilot. METAD is managed by her extended family to this day.
We then added an intensely sweet coffee from Finca El Cedral in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica. Situated on the steep slopes above the small town of Guayabal, El Cedral has ideal conditions for producing high-quality coffee. After harvesting, the cherry is transported up the road to Beneficio Santa Teresa 2000 for processing. Santa Teresa 2000 is Costa Rica’s highest micro-mill, and with cooler temperatures and a consistent breeze coffee dries at a slow and even pace, intensifying the coffee’s sweetness.
To add acidity and help bring out the flavors of the other component coffees, we finished the blend with a vibrant coffee from the Huila region in Southern Colombia. Second generation coffee farmer Gabriel Bolaños and his family operate Finca El Limón, a small farm located near the town of San Agustín that he inherited from his father. Gabriel is hopeful his two children will carry on the family’s legacy of producing exceptional coffee. Paired together, these three coffees culminate in a complex and balanced blend, but this version of Snow Leopard will only be available for a limited time -- as long as supplies of the component coffees last. This seasonally evolving blend is available on an ongoing basis.
