Events Manager


Equator seeks an Events Manager to join the Marketing Team and lead the creation, planning and implementation of all of the brands field, retail and press related marketing events.  In addition to coordinating all of Equator’s non-digitally focused brand building activities, the Events Manager also owns and manages the creation of the annual events calendar, tracks and manages all photography and content assets for each event, builds and manages all budgets and costs for each event and manages the customer acquisition data through email sign up and social sharing at each event.  This position is expected to drive positive brand awareness, omni-channel sales and retail guest counts by developing and implementing noteworthy events, while staying up to date with the latest trends in guerrilla marketing and various other traditional marketing activities.

  • Passionate about coffee, tea, food, premium hospitality, running, biking, surfing and other outdoor lifestyle activities


  • Specialty coffee experience

  • Required: 3+ year’s event marketing experience in a premium brand-driven company

  • Experience coordinating successful events and identifying compelling and innovative ways to drive business and increase brand awareness

  • Demonstrated success in planning and executing marketing events and activities

  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated success in taking major projects and initiatives to the finish line

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate marketing campaigns and event objectives to retail cafe teams

  • Excellent computer skills- familiarity preferred, but proficiency not required, with Adobe Products, Excel, Base Camp, Google products and Dropbox

  • Marketing or Communication degree preferred or experience in related field

  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record


  • Manage all aspects of the field marketing program including sequencing, budget, vendor management, execution and reporting

  • Think creatively about the customer and prospect experience at in-person events, and build high-caliber experiences that are above expectations for attendees

  • Operational excellence in scaling field programs across the country, running multiple live event campaigns consecutively on occasion

  • Partner and collaborate with digital marketing, sales, retail and graphic design freelancers to create high value in-person campaigns that deliver high-caliber content and experiences for our customers and prospects

  • Develop, socialize and get buy-in from retail sales leaders, wholesale account executives, and marketing counterparts to strategize, drive, and implement the optimal mix of field events and programs

  • Expertly practice excellent negotiation skills while attending meetings and driving agenda in discussions commonly attended by team leaders

  • Grow awareness, familiarity and perception for Equator in key regions, cities and markets

  • Be responsible for community management on all channels

  • Prepare written communication materials such as creative and project briefs, educational content, meeting recaps and project recommendations

  • Support the Company’s social media strategy to increase brand awareness, drive sales and build guest relationships, including building the brands digital content library

  • Partner with graphic design firm, external vendors and consultants

  • Coordinate partner, community and vendor relationships, including managing charitable donations

  • Continuously work on professional development by participating in training and educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations
