STORY

We are excited to present our first washed process Ethiopia coffee for the season. This coffee hails from the Gora Kone washing station, in the Arsi Zone, which is part of the greater Sidama growing region.

Located in the village of Werka, alongside the Nensebo river, the Gora Kone washing station produces both washed and natural process coffees. This washed lot was processed using fresh water from the Gerenbicho River, which is an offshoot of the larger Nensebo River. After washing, the coffee is dried for 10 to 12 days on raised beds, that are situated on steep, windy hillsides.

Gora Kone provides support to over 700 smallholders by buying coffee fruit and providing grower services. The average size of these small family farms are about seven acres, with much of the acreage dedicated to coffee cultivation. Acacia and Wanza trees shade the delicate heirloom coffee trees, protecting them from the intense afternoon sun.
