offering the most flavorful, exciting teas in the world.
For more than 15 years, Silk Road Teas has been one of our primary tea purveyors, allowing us be able to offer some of the most amazing, flavorful and exciting teas available in the world. Having access to and being able to provide you with extraordinary teas has been one of our primary goals since the beginning. With this goal in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that we will be expanding our partnership with Silk Road Teas!
Brooke first met the founder of Silk Road Teas 20 years ago at a local Farmer’s Market. From their first interaction, and through our years of working together, we have always felt a strong alignment with their company goals and the excellence of their offerings. Their dedication to quality and sustainability mirror our own, and we have always been proud to work with them and their products. Since the beginning of our relationship, their teas have been available to all – and used at many – of our wholesale partners, notably The French Laundry, and Per Se.
preserving the profiles of unique, small-lot teas.
Silk Road Teas is known as a purveyor of rare and artisan teas from China. Each spring, they travel in the tea-rich southeastern provinces to source fresh, seasonal teas. Visiting tea markets, small farms, specialty tea companies and tea brokers, they strive to, and succeed at finding the finest varieties of white, green, Oolong, black and Pu-erh tea.
The teas they offer are grown and processed by true artisans of the leaf. Most of their teas are purchased in small lots that are single origin and often handmade. They believe the best tea is harvested early in the spring, when the days are warm and the nights cool. In that brief harvest window, known as "before the rain" teas, the fresh and tender leaves offer nuanced flavors and tastes. These teas are limited in supply and are recognized as some of the finest teas in the world. Once plucked and processed, most of their teas are un-blended and un-adulterated, preserving the profiles of these unique small lots for your enjoyment.
every effort is made to source teas grown using natural and organic methods.
It is also worth noting that teas grown on small and specialty tea farms tend to use traditional methods of farming and, as the tea is harvested in the spring before insect predation begins, the use of chemicals and pesticides is far less prevalent than on the larger tea farms and teas harvested later in the season. They make every effort to find teas that have been grown using natural and organic methods. As China's consumer market strengthens and demand for organic teas grows, Silk Road Teas increasingly source certified organic teas to complement their line of traditionally grown teas. To encourage and complement organic farming, Silk Road Teas is a certified USDA NOP Organic Handler.
This is an incredibly exciting time for Equator and Silk Road Teas, and we are both overjoyed at the opportunity to grow our partnership. We look forward to you joining us in our goal to source, tatse, and enjoy the most amazing teas that we can.
