This yearβs Golden Hour blend features a fully washed coffee grown by a dedicated group of women farmers from Colombiaβs Huila region. They are members of the AsociaciΓ³n de Mujeres Cafeteras del Occidente del Huila and part of the Las Rosas Womenβs Coffee Projectβa collaborative initiative that supports farmers through economic opportunity, social empowerment, and a focus on coffee quality. The project provides access to a transparent, member-owned credit fund, psychological support, and workshops on gender equity, leadership, and political engagement. This coffeeβs complex flavors and buttery mouthfeel form the foundation of Golden Hour.
A nuanced, fruit-forward, natural-processed Ethiopian coffee beautifully complements the Colombian component in Golden Hour. Grown at high altitude and processed at the Ayla Bensa washing station in the town of Bombe, the colder climate slows the growth cycle, placing stress on the coffee trees. This results in cherries that mature slowlyβbecoming small, dense, and packed with flavor. Dried with the fruit fully intact, this coffee carries distinctive cherry-like notes that lend just the right amount of vibrant fruit character to the blend.
Completing the blend is a second fully washed coffee from Tanzania, produced by members of Pilikano AMCOS. Located in the Mbinga District of the Ruvuma Region, Pilikano is a cooperative of 420 smallholder farmers collectively managing about 158 hectares. Together, these three coffees create a balanced, sweet, and approachable blendβperfect for enjoying throughout the summer.
