Origin Story

Bogale Weldegeorgis, Faysel Abdosh, Aricha Washing Station (Ethiopia)
Las Rosas Women's Group (Colombia)

The Prime Meridian Blend brings together three exceptional coffees from Ethiopia and Colombia, each carefully selected for their distinct characteristics and contributions to the cup.

The first Ethiopian component comes from Testi Coffee, a family-owned company deeply rooted at origin and committed to sourcing high-quality beans for the specialty coffee industry. This fully washed lot was processed at the Aricha washing station in Ethiopia’s renowned Yirgacheffe region. Grown at high elevations and meticulously handled, it brings delicate fruit notes and a refined clarity to the blend.

The second Ethiopian coffee was grown by smallholder farmers near the town of Wushwush, in the Kafa region—an area considered the birthplace of Arabica coffee. Ripe cherries are delivered to a centrally located washing station managed by Bogale Weldegeorgis, who also oversees a nearby drying station and dry mill. This level of oversight gives him full control over the post-harvest process and ensures consistency and quality. Processed using the natural (or dry) method, this lot adds a rich, sweet layer to the blend, with flavors reminiscent of ripe stone fruit.

To complete the blend, we include a fully washed coffee produced by members of the Las Rosas Women’s Coffee Project in Huila, southern Colombia. These women, part of the Asociación de Mujeres Cafeteras del Occidente del Huila, are supported by a multi-organizational initiative that promotes economic empowerment, social equity, and excellence in coffee cultivation. Their coffee lends a creamy body and notes of bittersweet chocolate that ground the blend and enhance its overall complexity.

Why We Love This Coffee

Featuring coffees from some of the world’s best known and most beloved producing countries, Prime Meridian Blend is designed to be smooth and satisfying. Originally, the blend was developed in collaboration with a Bay Area technology company for serving in their offices. One of their employees suggested the name “Prime Meridian” as a whimsical play on Equator’s name.
