Eye of the Tiger is our seasonally evolving espresso blend. We work with in-season coffees to develop a blend that shows off the flavors of the component coffees in unique ways.
Our latest addition is vibrant and spicy, pairing washed-process coffees from Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania!
We’re thrilled to introduce the latest edition of Eye of the Tiger, our seasonally evolving espresso blend. This release features a trio of exceptional African coffees, anchored by a standout lot from Testi Coffee—a family-owned company with deep roots at origin and a strong commitment to sourcing high-quality beans for the specialty market. Processed at the Aricha washing station in Ethiopia’s renowned Yirgacheffe region, this coffee is grown at high elevations and meticulously handled, contributing delicate floral notes and a honey-like sweetness.
Complementing it is a vibrant selection from smallholder producers in Kenya’s Nyeri and Kirinyaga regions, nestled on the slopes of Mt. Kenya. Freshly harvested cherries are delivered to local, cooperatively managed wet mills where they are graded and expertly processed. With ideal growing conditions, prized varieties, and rigorous quality protocols, it’s no surprise that Kenya consistently produces some of the world’s most sought-after coffees. This component adds lively acidity along with spicy and citrus-driven complexity.
Rounding out the blend is a fully washed coffee from Tanzania, grown by members of Pilikano AMCOS—a cooperative of 420 smallholder farmers in the Mbinga District of the Ruvuma Region. Together, these three coffees create an espresso that is sweet and balanced on its own, yet structured and complex enough to shine in milk-based drinks.

Why We Love This Coffee
For those unfamiliar with the Eye of the Tiger concept, we do not attempt to maintain a fixed flavor profile for this blend, as we do with our year-round espresso blends. Instead, we work with in-season coffees to develop a blend that shows off the flavors of the component coffees in ways.
We will roast this version of Eye of the Tiger only as long as the blend components last. While there are many variables that contribute to dialing in espresso, here are the parameters that have been yielding the best results in our lab:
1:2.4 coffee to water ratio in 22 seconds.
Sustainably Sourced
