Origin Story
René Mamani
This coffee from Bolivia was produced by René Mamani, a member of Agricafè’s Sol De La Mañana social program. Pedro Rodriguez, CEO and founder of Agricafè, began his coffee journey 35 years ago and is considered a pioneer of the Bolivian specialty coffee industry. Today, alongside his daughter Daniela and son Pedro Pablo, the family manages several farms and leads the Sol De La Mañana program—an initiative designed to empower smallholder producers with education across every stage of the farming process, from pruning and nursery management to harvesting, pest control, and financial planning. Since its launch in 2014, participants in the program have collectively increased their production by over 200%.
René discovered his passion for coffee as a teenager, while visiting his brother-in-law and helping out on the family farm. In 2009, he and his brother Juan purchased a 14-hectare plot of land, which they named Finca Renacer. Since then, they've been growing coffee together with dedication and care. René and his wife, Nicolasa, have three daughters—Erica, Li, and Michelle—who all enjoy pitching in on the farm.

Why We Love This Coffee
This is Equator’s second year purchasing coffee from the Mamani Family, and the second year they’ve produced the Pacamara variety. Grown in a small, high-altitude section of their farm, this coffee benefits from ideal conditions that promote slow fruit maturation and the development of complex flavors.
Pacamara is a hybrid cultivar, born from a cross between the Typica-derived Maragogipe—known for its exceptionally large beans—and Pacas, a compact-growing selection of the heirloom Bourbon variety. Thanks to this unique lineage, Pacamara plants are small in stature but yield impressively large beans, celebrated for their exceptional cup quality and their reputation as a challenge to roast.
Sustainably Sourced
Good Coffee, Better Planet
Environmental sustainability is a core pillar of Agricafè. Of the 200 hectares owned, 54% are preserved as natural reserve land. Among Sol De La Mañana producers, that number rises to 60%. Additionally, for the past two years, members of the Sol De La Mañana program have been actively educating others on the importance of reforestation.
